Visit Lincolnshire

Just four miles away from Hideaway Cottage, Louth is a popular market town, which boasts many restaurants and cafes, a wide variety of shops, and the popular Maltings Antique Centre.

Louth also has a golf club that offers a challenging 6,430 yard 18-hole parkland course. It is a par 72 course, with a superbly maintained fairway woven through a tapestry of gently rolling, wooded hills. The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa, the Home of English Golf, is also close by.

If you are a walker, the Viking Way passes through the Wolds, taking in many villages and beautiful scenery along the way. The name of the route comes from the influence of the Danes in Lincolnshire, although much of the Viking Way follows considerably older Celtic routes. Lincolnshire’s East coast has miles of wonderful beaches that can be enjoyed all year round.

Wildlife Trusts’ Donna Nook National Nature Reserve is home to grey seals. Each November and December, the seals give birth to their pups near the sand dunes, providing a wildlife spectacle that attracts visitors from across the UK.

Lincoln is only 20 miles away and boasts many fascinating buildings. Chief amongst these is the city’s cathedral, which was built in 1072. As one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe, Lincoln Cathedral towers above the city and is visible from up to 25 miles away.

Aviation enthusiasts will be drawn to nearby RAF East Kirkby, where one of two Lancaster bombers in Lincolnshire is maintained (the other is part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Conningsby).

For motorcycle fans, Cadwell Park is just 2.5 miles away. The Bennett’s British Superbike Championship is the most popular event on the circuit’s calendar and takes place annually on August Bank Holiday weekend.

Cadwell Park also hosts two major historic events: the Vintage Sports Car Club’s annual festival and the new Easter Wolds Trophy covering the post-war period.
